Should You Visit Santorini’s Mind-Blowing Red Beach?
There are 15 beautiful beaches to go in Santorini and they often span from sandy to pebbly due to their geographical location. Moreover, they all come in beautiful shades of black, white, and one red. The red beach in Santorini is located near the village and archaeological site of Akrotiri. I have always been curious about this particular beach since I first visited the island back in 2017, but I was told then that it was closed due to rock slides.
Two years later, the beach is open but swimmers are warned that they must swim at their own risk. Those interested in red beach snorkeling must hike down to the beach or take a small boat to the shore.
I decided to hike above and see everything from an aerial point-of-view. I also learned that the beautiful red hue of the rocks is due to iron being present.
I’m now convinced that God spent a little extra time on Greece 👌
