I was so happy to finally have the chance to visit the new butterfly garden at Roers Zoofari in Vienna, VA with my family this weekend.
Walking into the Wings of Wonder exhibit and witnessing hundreds of butterflies in various shapes and sizes soaring about was both euphoric and surreal.
I’ve unfortunately noticed fewer butterflies with time as I get older. Conservation efforts, like the Wings of Wonder exhibit, give butterflies the chance to grow and be protected against pesticides, predators, and other harmful means in the wild.
This summer, I received some caterpillars and raised them in a small butterfly house until they became Painted Lady butterflies. Releasing them was bittersweet but I was happy to help towards a greater cause.
Be sure to stop by Roer’s Zoofari during these last weeks of summer should you be in the DMV area and are a lover of these winged beauties!
