What Is There to See at the Wharf in Washington, D.C.?

I fully enjoyed my recent trip to The Wharf in Washington, D.C. The location is filled with plenty of contemporary architecture and also hosts a fish market area that was built in the early 1800’s! Spending time at The Wharf reminded me a lot of South Street Seaport in Manhattan with its admirable seaside location, glass office buildings, and tasty eateries.

As a new resident of Washington, D.C., I really enjoyed all of the sights of The Wharf and its laid-back aura. The area is utilized for multi-purposes and has plenty of restaurants, shops, businesses, apartments, to name a few.

Perhaps The Municipal Fish Market at The Wharf is the most distinct area for its history and fresh array of seafood with smells of Old Bay seasoning in the air. In general, The Wharf’s food menu is a seafood lovers dream!

I was blown away by the selections and intrigued by the labeling of the fresh crustaceans. Did you know that it was possible to purchase shrimp and crabs based on their gender due to their different flavor profiles?

Collectively, I find The Wharf to be a perfect location to visit during covid 19 and beyond because of its abundant amount of open-air activities. So keep this location on your radar for some outdoor leisure time during your Washington, D.C. trip.
